H*O*M*E

AHHHHHHH...we can finally breathe!! Setting up house has taken A LOT of time, and we still have LOTS to do. On the up-side, we have gotten SO much done in the 1st month of living in our new home. Yes, it has already been a MONTH!! I'm finally in the "blogging spirit" again, and I hope it's here to stay. I have been away MUCH, MUCH, too long. FB is partially responsible for that, as I have been using it as my back-up for blogging. So here you have it...2 posts (see "J*" below) in 1 day.

Kitchen cabinets

As promised...pictures of our kitchen with the cabinets painted black!! Our cabinets were the originals (oak) from when our house was built in 1980. We got an estimate on cabinet re-facing...after the $9,000 quote, we decided to look at cheaper options. There is nothing a good coat of paint can't fix, right? We replaced the hardware as well. The first picture was not intended to be a "before" shot, but it is all I have of a "before" picture. We were beginning to prep the cabinets and Mr. D was helping...

A Makeover...

Yes...my blog needed a makeover! Here you have it...the new look :). I do realize that the pictures in my previous post are cut in half due to their large size, but that is okay. If you must view pictures that aren't chopped in half, you can click on "older post" at the bottom of this blog to view post where my pictures were smaller.
I will hopefully have lots of new posts for you to read that will include pictures that fit this new template...We celebrated Drew's 4th Birthday, which needs to be blogged. We also painted our kitchen cabinets...a stunning black!!! I'll take and post pictures of the kitchen soon!
Back to the template...I purchased it from House of 3. You must take a look at this web site. They have everything from digital scrapping stuff to home decor.

Photo Wall Continued...

Ahhhh...finally! I take so many pictures of my kiddos, but I don't print enlargements as much as I SHOULD! But, I fell in LOVE with these recent images and HAD to print them out to add to our GROWING photo wall (it now wraps around to the adjoining wall).

You may remember this photo from a while back...

and here is our photo wall TODAY...continuing around to the next wall...

The family picture was taken by a friend of mine (debraparkerdesign.com) and the two of the boys were taken on the same outing, but by yours truly...I know, you've seen these photos a lot lately, but here they are hanging on the walls of our home!

Details:

enlargements are 12X12 from shutterfly.com
frames are from Michael's @ $4.99/frame
wall stickers/quotes from Dollar Tree

This was a very inexpensive project...I think the prints were about $27 including shipping & handling. The stickers were purchased about 6 mos. ago (for $1)...I knew I wanted to incorporate them into our photo wall, but couldn't find that perfect spot for them until now.

This is the other corner of our office...I will continue to add pictures to the walls!

the "HOLY-est" post EVER...

"HOLY", because of ALL the crosses :)...I've had most of these crosses for years, and just haven't found a home for them in our sort-of-new-house. So, I finally painted our bathroom and decided to arrange the crosses on a wall in the master bath...I like how it turned out. I must say the "Less is More" phrase doesn't apply here. I can tell you where each cross came from, so each one has it's own special meaning.

This is a gift I received from my prayer partner at preschool. It matches our bedroom and is an AWESOME daily reminder when I get ready for the day!

I found this cross at HOBBY LOBBY yesterday...50 % off ROCKS! It found it's home on a lonely wall in the newly-decorated-bathroom.
Another gift...received years ago from my Aunt J*.
Forgive me if this stool has been posted on the blog before. I purchased this in Canton, TX about 1.5 yrs. ago.
Just some random pictures of the KITCHEN...

The tray hanging above the stove is from SOUTHERN LIVING AT HOME. It is their FRENCH QUARTER TRAY.

I personally love to see pictures from inside people's homes. I enjoy seeing how people decorate and appreciate new ideas. It is also cool to see INSIDE other's lives...the HOME tells so much about a person...wouldn't you agree?

The Finished Product...

Not sure if I have mentioned this yet, but I FINALLY got around to painting my boys' bedroom. I envisioned their room with ORANGE and BLUE walls. But before I could pick out paint for the walls, I had to find bedding...with ORANGE and BLUE in it. I also wanted QUILTS rather than comforters. Was I narrowing my search or what? I found several bedding items with BLUE and RED, but not BLUE and ORANGE. After shopping around, my Mom and I ran into Target. Bingo...

First, some details... this lamp, which matches the bedding, was also purchased at Target. a closer look at the quilt and sheets

These curtains were made by my mom. We bought an extra set of sheets that matched the bedding and then found a coordinating fabric. My Mom had the idea of using rope and fishing lures to add some spice. I LOVE the curtains!Their names are hanging on the wall above their beds...
And here's THE BIG PICTURE...
the green dots on the wall are from Lowe's...they are called Wall Pops.
While I am posting about home decor, here is a project that has been in the closet for way too long. I finally got around to finishing it as well... I bought the individual letters at Hobby Lobby and used scrapbooking paper and Mod Podge to cover the letters. This project doesn't have a "home" in our home yet, but when it does, I'll post. I chose the word B.L.E.S.S.E.D because our family IS BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE!

This is a "then and now" picture of the photo wall in the "office" area of our home. It is GROWING...

This plaque below is hanging in a random spot in our home, but a spot in which we see often. It is a constant reminder of something I NEED to do. The cross was purchased on clearance from Hobby Lobby and is hanging on our front porch.
I have more home decor projects in store...stay tuned for pictures!
